17th December 2023 - Wells Beach Cafe - Dave Cusdin

There has been some banter recently on the bikers’ WhatsApp regarding the existence of a certain Mr Claus. Well the argument was settled today when he turned up along with another 11 riders for the last trip of the year to Wells Beach Café. It was nippy, overcast and the roads were greasy and covered in mud – about right for this time of the year. As usual we took a meandering route to avoid the A roads and to extend the journey time; Wells being so close. 3 groups of 4 led by myself, Ian C and Bob B went through Leziate, Gayton, Hillington, the Birchams, Burnham Market past Holkham and onto Wells. The Beach Café is always busy no matter what time of the year, mainly due to its ample parking and its proximity to the beach and dunes for the dog walkers. We managed to squeeze in 9 bikes on the gravel but had to spill over into the main carpark for the remainder. We camped outside and braved the wind chill whilst the usual tea, coffee, hot chocolate and pastries were consumed.

Wells’ location is such that there is a myriad of ways to get there and back from Lynn without retracing your steps and we each chose a route that was convenient for our home destination.

As previously mentioned, this was the last ride out of 2023 and I am hoping that 2024 will be as incident free as this year has been and that you will all continue to support the group in your usual inimitable way. We all love riding our bikes and the benefits to mental health are well documented but it’s the friendly, often humorous company that really makes for a good day out, and long may it continue. Thanks to everyone that has attended this year especially those that have led groups. Don’t forget to pay your subs and if you want a say in how the NNAM is run then the AGM will be held on the 10th Jan 24 at Cringleford Pavilion, free nosh!

2024 ride outs are on the website but nothing is set in stone so if have any suggestions let me know, hopefully see you next year.

Glad tidings
