The Norfolk and Norwich Group of Advanced Motorists, promotes safe riding through use of a system of bike control described in "Motorcycle Roadcraft", the Police riders' handbook. This system is used by the Police and all advanced riding organisations in the UK and internationally.
Should you wish to take the Advanced Rider Course. you should contact the national organisation, IAM Roadsmart, to enrol. Click the button below to be taken to their website. nce enrolled you will be allocated to the Norfolk and Norwich Group of Advanced Motorists and one of our Observers (mentors) will work with you and provide help, advice and guidance to prepare you for taking the advanced riding test.
Depending upon your level of skill and knowledge when you enrol, you could be ready to take your advanced riding test after approximately 6 observed rides, although we place no limit on the number of rides we will provide to get you to test standard. A lot depends upon your ability when joining the group and the amount of practice you get between each session.
All of our Observers are unpaid volunteers and are qualified to a standard approved by the Institute of the Motor Industry, and offer their time free of charge to help you be a better rider. Your joining fee includes a copy of the Advanced Rider Logbook upon which your Observed rides will be based, a copy of the Highway Code, your test fee and your first year's membership of both IAM Roadsmart and also of the Norfolk and Norwich Group.
As all Observed runs are completed on your bike, the only other cost will be your fuel. Your Observer will be riding their own bike therefore a small contribution towards your Observers fuel may also be required.
