Appeal for New Group Secretary and Membership Secretary

Due to a change in circumstances the current Secretary is reluctantly retiring from the Committee, therefore we are looking for a new Group Secretary. This is a vital post on the Committee. The IAMRoadsmart Group Handbook says that the Committee must have a minimum of three officers: Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer. NNAM must comply with this or we cannot continue as an IAM Group. The retiring Secretary has also been covering the post of Membership Secretary, so this will also need covering.

The retiring Secretary has done an excellent job, and everything is in order. He is willing to support the new Secretary in taking on the role.

Main Tasks:

Preparing meeting agendas in collaboration with the Chair.
Taking minutes every two months at Committee meetings and at the AGM.
Distributing minutes.
Maintaining accurate records and filing necessary documents with the Charity Commission.
Acting as a key contact for correspondence.

We currently have 15 posts on the Committee but only 10 Committee members, so even if you have no interest in the Secretary's post, please consider offering to help keep YOUR group running.

Neil Marshall - RNLI - 11th November 2026

Neil retired aged 62 in 2023 having worked as a partner manager in the financial crime compliance industry for 17 years. Upon retirement, Neil set sail for 6 months in his 29ft sailboat to attempt a circumnavigation of Great Britain raising money and awareness for the RNLI & the British Heart Foundation.

Hayden Charles - Rope making, a lost Norfolk trade - 9th December 2026

Local ropers were once common providing rope, twine and other cordage for shipping, fishing, agriculture and anyone who needed tie down a load. From the raw materials to how it's made, including a demonstration.

Norfolk Accident Rescue Service - Wednesday 10th February

Norfolk Accident Rescue Service (NARS) is a charity providing life-saving volunteer clinicians for emergencies such as cardiac arrest, serious falls, road traffic collisions and seizures. Established in 1970, NARS has a team of around 50 volunteer doctors, nurses, critical care paramedics, paramedics and first responders attending over 2000 emergency calls every year in Norfolk.

Matt Wickens - Norfolk Wildlife Trust Sweet Briar Marshes - Wednesday 10th March

Matt Wickens began working for Norfolk Wildlife Trust 9 years ago getting his feet wet on their Broadland nature reserves, before moving into managing the Trust's Urban Nature Reserves in 2023 following the purchase of Sweet Briar Marshes.
